Obligated to use a certain bow.
« on: July 06, 2011, 05:18:00 PM »
Does anyone else feel obligated to use one bow or feel like that a particular one deserves to get blood on it? Even though i only own one bow I feel like i owe that bow at least one deer. My dad gave me his old Ben Pearson Hunter that was originaly my grandfathers but has sat dormant in our garage for goodness knows how long. I taught myself how to shoot it over two years and will be danged if i let something else take away from this gem.   :bigsmyl:

I tend to get sentimental about bows that have been handed down in my family. Aside from that, I picked up a 1960 Black Widow that deserves at least one more filled tag to its credit.

I don't know that I feel obligated to draw blood with a particluar bow, but I do choose a bow for a season in advance and will not hunt with another bow until I am succesful with that chosen bow or the season is over.  Of course if that bow were to brake, get lost, or stolen I do have a back up.

Obligated...........no, but there is a desire to draw blood with every bow I own, that is of proper hunting weight.  Just thinking........
Thanks,
Tim

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

Not to go off kilter here but, I feel obligated to the animal to hunt with the bow that I shoot best and have well tuned. I am currently working on that bow for this season!    :D

If I waited to kill something with a bow before I moved on to another ....I would still be hunting with the Browning I bought back in 1967. Hopefully I can break the ice this year with my Chad Holm "Osprey" longbow    !!

All of the game I have taken, has been with my Zipper. I get antsy if I plan a hunt and don't take it. That being said, I've committed to using a longbow built by a friend (or one we are building together for me), for elk this year. I hope I don't jinx myself.

I totally get it man... Once I have been through a lot with a bow... I feel like it is my best friend. Then... if I shoot another bow... I fell like I am cheating on it  :(

Don't feel obligated as I believe that I must evolve.  Those bows that have special meanings get polished and put up on the rack.

I bring them down every now and then and take a few shots, wipe them down and put them back.  Won't get rid of them as I've done that in the past and have regretted it. Bigtime.

I go back and forth from prim. to trad. to wheels and back again.

I can relate. I'm friends with John Dill and Lee Hoots and have shot alot of game with their stuff. Also I have a friendship with Rick Welch. Ive also shot a ton of stuff with his bows. I have a black widow that I shoot alot on my 3D course, but never took it hunting. I'm thinking about killing at least my first deer this year with the widow. Always liked the widows even back in 88 when all I could do was wish I could have one. DB
