Ostrich sinew..
« on: July 12, 2011, 07:55:00 AM »
Hi guys I hope some of the bowyers over there might be able to help me.Do you ever use the leg sinew from ostrich as bow backing? We have a bird here in Oz called an Emu that is very similiar to your bird and would like to try them for some bow backing. Thanks in advance..

I have not used ostrich but have successfully used emu leg sinew for bow backing.

Neat to have found your answer so soon!
Never really though about sinew from other animals.

I have used Ostrich and Emu with good luck on both.
I love the long ostrich for wrapping points with sinew as well as tying on feathers, good stuff mate.
