Stu's Calculator
« on: July 17, 2011, 02:57:00 PM »
I have been wanting a new set of arrows for awhile so to the calculator I went. I put in my info. 59#@28 recurve cut -3/16. Then the arrow info I picked the Easton FMJ Dangerous Game  started putting in the #'s .300 spine 125gr tip, wrap and 3x5" feathers 75gr insert total weight of 713gr  12.1 gr per in with 12.7% FOC. I was real slow to believe I needed a .300 spine but I ordered some from Big Jim and "WOW" do they shoot GREAT. I have been shooting them out of 3 different bows with just a tip weight change. The calculator is a good tool just make sure you input the "correct" info about your bow and arrows and you should be pretty close.

Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me, Gen 27:3

Agreed.

Just getting back into archery and finally decided it was time for a matched set of arrows, so plugged in the numbers for my Bear Custom Kodiak T/D, 50#@28" w/ 29" draw, then tweaked the settings for a matching arrow:

Carbon Express Heritage 150s cut to 31.5" w/ aluminum inserts, 100 grain points and 3 4" shield-cut feathers w/ Bohning birch bark arrow wraps --- I scrubbed off the writing w/ a 3M Scotch-Brite green pad and like the looks a lot.

They're shooting much better than the $3 Wal-Mart carbons I was using and I'm now confident that it's my skill or lack thereof placing the arrows on the target.

With the correct info in the boxes, it's the easiest way to tune an arrow to a bow. I fine tune by adjusting brace height.
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 42# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 10.02
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 37# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 11.37
