When I grip my bow I have a very high grip, only my thumb web touches,no palm.Comes from the target days I guess,When shooting a Hill type bow is this possible or is it more of a palm grip?

If you like a high grip like that you probably won't like a mid or low wrist grip.  So a Hill type longbow would take some getting use to.
You get to keep what you kill.  If it were easy there would be no value in it.

Burt,
I'm going to say "no" to your question. Hill-type bows are really meant to be "heeled". The pressure point in your bow hand should be well below the web of your hand.

I agree with Brad. I've never been able to shoot a straight Hill type longbow grip because I'm so used to a recurve's medium pistol grip.

I always shot recurves, but really like the longbow grip on my Black Widow.  It has the Toby Grip palm swell, and I hold it much differently than my recurve.  But it took me almost no time to get comfortable with it.

Thanks guys, I just came in from shooting. I tried a palm grip on my Big Jim buff.It felt more natural on this bow.So I can"nt say I like a high wrist better, it"s the way I learned when I stood at the line and had every gadget known to man.Just dose"nt make sence now. I would like to try a Hill Bow. Burt

go to the first page of the hill thread and there is a link to do some searching.  Somewhere there is a good discussion of the proper grip and the why behind it, and there is a very good reason why.

if a single point of pressure works well for ya with a straight hill handle, accept the goodness for what it is.  it's the way i grip all bow handles, from straight to deep pistol, and what works best for me.  no matter what anyone sez, all that matters in the end is *your* consistent accuracy, not theirs - achieve that accuracy any way ya can and don't look back.
