Arm Guard help design.

I would like to make an attempt at making my own arm guard. I want to make one that will have a single leather pull on the back to tighten it up.
Do any of you guys have any pictures or better yet a pattern?

I had a friend of mine who took the top of a lace up boot and fit it to his arm. He essentially pulls it tight and used one of those sliding stops common on tent sacks etc. Works pretty good. He tucks the excess of the string in the strings and he's off hunting.
