'Nother great buck, Ron.
I've seen more dark horns on bigger bucks than smaller ones. Don't know why that is, but it seems like most of the bigger blacktails I've seen have dark horns and the ones I shoot are all lighter colored...

You know Stan, you might be correct about the older bucks having the dark antlers! Here's a real DARK antlered buck I got the trailcam Tuesday evening right after I killed my buck down the road. I barely got in there this morning, nearly 16 inches of heavy snow on the road! Brought the camera home.
Santiam...I always seem to wait until you bag a buck and then kill one slightly larger, but this year you had the advantage of seeing what I had first, what happened? :D

After this year's brutal Texas summer heat wave, Oregon's cooler weather and blacktail deer are starting to look better to me than our Texas whitetail deer. :D

I hunted blacktail for years, was my first animal ever with a bow in 1973.I honestly believe a big Blacktail buck to be the hardest to hunt. They are truly beautiful animals Kudus to you my friend, great looking deer and bow.
