56 in Shrew three under

Anyone shooting a 56 inch shrew three under? I am getting a lot of noise. keep moving the nock up but no help. Brace height and nock set would be appreciated.

56" classic hunter
48# at 28 pulling to 30.5
500 MFX with 100 grain insert 150 grain point
Carbon core on the limbs so I know that may add to the noise.

Have not shot the 56 but had a 54 that I shot three under and it was about normal with other R/D longbows , I ran my brace height 7 1/2  and nock around 7/8 . I used catwiskers and use them on most all my bows which in my opinion work the best for 3 under . Honestly the only bow that you can get really quiet using 3 under is a mild R/D longbow like a Mohawk , Northern Mist , or a hill style longbow . Never fear though , that Shrew will be plenty quiet for hunting

I shoot a 56" Classic Hunter three under. Mine also has the foam core and carbon, the carbon models tend to have a little different sound. Not sure what grains per lb your shooting? I have been at 10 to 11 grains per lb of draw weight and haven't noticed anything real noisy.

Do you have silencers on the string? Is it a padded string?

I shoot my 54" Classic Hunters 3 under.  The carbon vs bamboo has a different sound but not loud.  Play with knocking point and string height til you find the sweet spot.  My bears, hogs, and deer don't seem to mind     Doc

At your 30.5-inch draw length, shooting 3 under torques the lower limb much more than the upper limb creating a timing imbalance which in turn leads to more limb vibration/noise. A short bow/long draw magnifies the effects of the vertical torquing.  Magnifies any form errors as well.  Heavier shafts and string silencers will help, but won't totally resolve the problem.

Whoa! I didn't see that you have a 30.5" draw length in your profile. I draw 28.5"

Orion has much more knowledge on this than I do ...so I'd listen to his advise.
He once thought he was wrong once, but then he realized he was mistaken!

I "only" have a 29.5" draw, and I shoot split finger, so I don't ever listen to my Shrews under the conditions you have with a 30.5" draw and three under, but my Shrews are all quiet with cat whiskers on them, and not too bad without any silencers. The 60" Shrew Safari that my friend just got is super quiet without any silencers at all, and he has a 30.5" draw also. But he does shoot split finger. My Shrews are generally braced at 7.25 to 7.5 inches, but I have shot them at 8" with no problem. I suggest a high nock position and a high brace height as the direction to head with what you have described. The suggestion of an 11 gpp arrow or heavier might also be a big help. The other guys here have made the best suggestions I can think of, other than having you join us split finger shooters.    :D

I have a 56" super shrew, 62 lbs.  

I have never been able to get it quiet three under.  Actually it is extremely loud - to me.   When I shoot split finger, it barely makes a sound.  Great bow, I just prefer three under, so my son shoots it and I wish I could.

I will watch this thread to check ideas, but I have tried a bunch of things with no-avail.

Tonight I am trying different shafts, 400 with 150 grains out front left full length somewhat quiter but still LOUD love my shrew but it may be it just doesn't like three under..

Just tried my 500 MFX and shot split finger, quite..... it looks like that if I want to hunt with my shrew I will have to shoot split.. of well..

You mean silencers won't take care of that noise?!

You never did say whether or not you tried a 7/8" nock height. That's what I have used with every bow I have owned in the past few years and they all worked great with me shooting 3 under.

I did move the nock to 7/8' and that helped some

ICS300 w/250 gn pt

or

MFX 340 w/200 gn pt

or

GT 7595 Trad w/250 pt (My 1st choice in addressing your issue)

may lead you in the right direction.

I shot my 56" CH at around 8 inches and used 600 grain arrows.It had carbon foam limbs.I shoot split finger.It was not loud.The carbon limb  has a different sound though

Just a suggestion here.Since you really love the bow it may be worth trying some of the limbsaver stickon mushroom thingamajiggies.I usually mount them above the fadeouts a little bit.It may help.Worth a try I think.

You may want to consider the Selway all rubber slide on long bow quiver if you use a bowquiver.That quiver seems to absorb some vibration more than others.

Well I kept working with the brace higth and nock point and seem to have found the sweet spot, not as quite as my ACS but I think its good to go, I like the bow to much to give up on it.

full length MFX 500 with 250 up front
not getting any limb shock just noise.
