Dip them into a cup of hot water then use a tool to open them out. If you do it quick you should have time to dip them closer if you have done to much.

Just don't get in too much of a hurry. You can always take more off, just harder to put it back on! haha One light swipe of the sandpaper, then try on the string, another swipe, so forth.

second the hot water, ecxept I hold mine in water simmering almost to a boil for about 20 seconds, then take them out and put them right on the string until they cool, about 15 seconds, works great and if I change strings or something my nocks havent been filed out.

I use the fingernail file or emery file, but like the others have said take your time & check the fit often as you go.

I use just the right size brass rod. I then snap on 6 nocks (they fit tight). Put them in simmering water 20-30 seconds pull out and let cool. Have never had a problem.

Never chrono'd it bot I understand that overly tight locks rob arrow speed. I use the nail file also.

Yup reserve or I use a mill bastard file that comes on the Snuffer sharpener system. It is perfect width for my size serving and nocks. Shawn

I use the hot water....bring it to a boil, soon as it starts to boil stick the arrow with the nock on it down into the water. Let it set there for a few seconds then pull it out and stick it on the string, pull it off, stick it back on, pull it back off. Do this till it cools enough so that it no longer bends. If necessary, do it again.......No squeezing, No sanding, No reserving.

I don't like to mess with my nocks, as I shoot the same arrows from different bows. I squeeze the serving a bit with a pair of needle-nose pliers. If the serving is so big that that doesn't work, the string needs re-served.

Thanks Rod,
I have had a handful of nocks break over the years and the result is painful to my arm. Never lost a bow though. I will never file material away from a nock and make it weaker.
Many different serving sizes can be had and will really give you a custom fit that will not weaken the nock or the string. I don't like the idea of squeezing the string with pliers either
