One-eyed shooting......

I had never tried it and have always shot w/ both eyes fixed on the target. This spring I had an eye injury and surgery that left me blind for a time in one eye so I was forced to shoot that way.
   We adapt, at first accuracy was so-so but has improved to acceptable hunting accuracy. The one difference in "style" is that I've learned to pick out reference points or "sights" on the bow.  I may bow hunt this year after all.

yes good for you, dont ever give up just keep shooting. that eye will become very strong. my brother also lost his eye and had to learn to shoot left handed. he went on to play ball and do all kinds of things with his diability. he has taken quite a few deer with bow. the biggest thing you loose is depth perception. stick with it. it will become natural again.  our family knows what it like to go through something like that. keep the faith!

Thanks fellas. The eye has improved to the point that I can recognize people at close distance.  Doc says that after it finishes healing we can work on corrective lenses to restore more useful vision. Meanwhile at least I can still shoot.
    There's nothing like losing something to make you appreciate what you've had.
    A word of warning.....IF you ever start seeing excessive "floaters" in your vision, go to the doc immediately. I ignored it and have paid the price.
