Welcome!

First I would like to say thank you for your service to this country!

Second as stated before try a little lighter bow and get the form down. I'm sure there are plenty of members here that if any are close have a few you could try out and they would be able to give you pointers.

Thrid I don't think you will go back to compound. I have always shot recurve/traditional and tried my buddies compound for one shot...I had to go home and scub my hands with a dull Zwickey and read some stories of Fred Bear hunts.
