SE Ohio?
« on: August 10, 2011, 08:33:00 PM »
Myself and some tradgang friends are planning a hunt opening week of archery season in SE Ohio in the Wayne NF. I was curious to know how the acorn crop was looking this season along with the overall deer herd? Thanks

Deer herd is great, as far as acorn crop the red oaks are loaded while the white oaks just aren't as full as last years.

SE Ohio has become a popular place to hunt in the past few years and for good reason, large tracts of federal land and a good chance of seeing a whopper buck.I used to hunt all season and almost never run into another bowhunter. Now I have a harder time finding a place where there isn't another hunter.Hunting the opening weekend you shouldn't have too much to worry about as far as other hunters go.I haven't had a chance to get out and check the acorns yet,but I hope it's not as abundant as last year.Good luck to you and your group.Ken
