Yep.  I always add a second strap at the bottom just in case.

I find the strap is so quick there really is no need for the hook.  I set up new every time I hunt.  One time in, up the tree, hunt. . . back down.  Takes less than ten minutes with sticks. Not sure the advantage of a hook already there. Just my 2C

Good hunting

Hook very sturdy. Recommend it. Yes, strap is easy, hook is still even easier.

You have to take the top bracket off to use the hook.  That, in turn, places the seat closer to the tree.  The hook works, but I seldom use it.  When I do, I also place another strap lower on the stand for stability.

I use hook and the other lower strap. The stand tends to kick sideways with only the hook.

I'm not so sure it was ever intended to use with only the hook.

Also heard of guys using the hook and just strap on bottom- BUT the top hook can come unhooked and you have the stand folding on you!   :scared:

Use the bat- wing bracket and two straps, the bat wing allows you to position your stand in oddly shaped trees, and it is rock solid. also fast and easy to hang.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of switching my stand to the hook set up and buying several to have many locations but after reading the comments and thinking more about it I will just leave it as is. I'm getting to old to be falling out of trees.....lol

I don't think the hook was meant to be used alone.
I think it was meant to assist in stand placement
so that you don't have to hold the stand and try to secure the strap at the same time. I got mine
about ten years ago and it came with the hook strap and a standard strap. I have always used them both.
