Forgiving Bows / Fedora Experts
« on: July 03, 2007, 04:46:00 PM »
Living in driving distance from Mike Fedora and liking fast bows I have a couple of his bows.  I have been shooting a 53# 560 Hunter one piece that is 60" and a 50# Stalker one piece that is 54".  I am testing out a 51# 560 Hunter Take Down which measures 61".  Shooting endless loop dacron on the first two and the demo bow is FF equipped.  It is seeming to me that this new bow is less forgiving of a bad release than the other two bows.  It could be a function of me.  What makes a forgiving bow and if anyone has these three bows do you see any differences between them.  I'm thinking real real hard about buying the take down.  Any help, advice, instruction, etc. is greatly appreciated from my Trad Gang buddies.    :notworthy:

I am a fan of Mike's bows but not his strings.
The xtreme (3pc LB)is more forgiving and shoots more accurately for me than my 560 does. Never shot the Stalker. You are fortunate to live so close to Mike.................see if you can spend a few minutes with him watching you shooting those different bows and get his comments.

I have a 60" 560 one piece, a Stalker as well as a takedown xtreme LB.  I have a friend that has the TD recurve and have shot it but obviously not as much as my bows.

I agree with Bjorn that the xtreme TD longbow might just be the most "forgiving".  I'm shooting a 64" with a 14" riser 48lb@28" and I draw close to 29".  Very very smooth and stable.  You can get the riser 16 inches for even more mass (and 18" too I think??) which helps.  I also like the 64" limbs.  I have shot a 60" Xtreme and liked the longer limbs.
