Blitz fletching clamp advice?
« on: August 28, 2011, 02:43:00 PM »
i have left wing clamp, do you guys center the marks on the jig and glue it. or do you adjust the top and bottom knobs to fit your arrow better? cause in the diretions it says helicle clamps have no adjustment and only fit the clamp one way? or is that talking about the nock settings? thanks

You gotta adjust it to fit the shaft. Chris

I've been using Bitz since 1975 ... love em!

Over the years 95% of my arrows have been with the helical clamp. I always use the knobs to adjust the clamp to center the quill over the center of the shaft and put as much off-set in the vane as I can while doing this.

It will probably take some adjustment to get the best contact with the feather.

I follwed directions that came with the box and have had no issues. I always start with the cock fletch as well. I also use the tape and just put a spot of glue on both ends.

mine are set about a 16th. of an inch off the center marks to fit my CE carbon shafts....took a little experimenting for me to get the feather how I wanted it....esp. because my wife's arrows are wood (bigger diameter) and kept having to go back and forth......Finally, I marked my spots and now can go back and forth no problem! might be agood idea once you find your spot-----in case you start fletching diff. diameter shafts..

I do exactly what Bowild does.

I tried a more extreme offset last night, so much so that the leading edge of the fletch had to be set by fingers after I took off the clamp. They're a little noisy but they really fly well.

But yeah, you have to adjust the jig for arrow diameter.

I set mine so that the base of the feather lays flat on the shaft with full contact.
