Palmer Brace height and Nock Point?

I'm shooting a Palmer classic 60in with 54lb limbs at 28in. My draw is 26.

Im shooting Beman Mfx Classics 500 spine at 28.5 inches and 125 points.

My brace height is at 7.5 and seems to be the best for the bow, the problem im having is with the nock point.

When I bareshaft tune the bow at 15 yrds I cant seem to get the up and down right.

I started with my NP at 5/8 above and the bare shafts are approx 4in low with 125 grain points compared to my fletched arrows.

So i moved the NP lower to 1/2 and even 3/8 but the bare shafts are still hitting low.

Should I be happy with my bare shafts hitting 3-4 inches low at 15 yards??

My broadheads and field points seem to be grouping together fairly well.....

Also I should note that the shelf has a rather thick piece of deer fur (1/8th in thick i would guess) and the side plate is fairly thin.

Any help is appreciated..... Im at the point where Im almost just going to give up on the whole bareshaft tuning idea.

I would consider higher than 5/8 just to see what happens.

I had the same bow at one time and my nock point seemed to be best right at 5/8. I found the bow to be very touchy, but then again, it was a 60 inch bow and I have a 29 inch draw so a 62 inch bow may have shot much better for me.

I would try higher, too. It is idiocyncratic with each bow--science is out the window, at times. Some bows just shoot better w/ a higher nocking point. And no you should not be happy with 4" low @ 15 yards. And what does "grouping together fairly well" mean? Specifics.....

Try messing around with the point weight. I know when I was bareshafting my palmer it shows a nock height problem when it was really a spine issue. Once I raised my point weight they flew perfect.

By reasonably well I mean that all 3 bare shafts, fletched, and broadheads were all within a 4in circle at 15 yards.

At this point I'm happy with the results.

My broadheads were actually flying exceptionally well.

I'm shooting Steelforce Phatheads 125gr

From the sounds of it, broadheads are flying & grouping well, and the bareshafts are striking 3-4" low at 15 yards, I would say the set-up is fine. Like Mint said, you can also add/subtract point weight to fine tune.  I'm working on tuning my new Palmer now also!

I just read somewhere that when you bare shaft tune you must cant "cant" the bow and you have to keep it as vertical as possible.

That could have been my problem.

Shoot your BH arrows and get them to group with your field point arrows.  Would not worry with bare shaft testing so much.  It is only a starting point.  Final tune of the setup will probably not having you shooting bare shafts with your fletched perfectly, that is why we put feather on our arrows to help with our shooting form errors.

I agree, just figured the better I'm bareshaft tuned the best my broadheads would fly.

Yep that did it, I held the bow as vertical as possible and went back to the 5/8 nock point height, bareshafts are less than an in below my fletched at 15 yards
