Depends on if you are packing in a ways or not, but for me I would want around 8 at a minimum.

5 if I am hunting from the house daily.
12 if I am on pack in hunt. ( horses and mules. )
If I were backpacking in I would take 6 and a couple extra broadheads.

I take a dozen tuned arrows to camp.  I carried 6 with broadheads, and two with hammer heads last year.  I am dropping it to two broadhead arrows and one hammer head this year.  I have never taken more than two shots in one day.  Plus I hunt within two miles of a road in most cases so I can always get back to more arrows if I need to.

When I went to CO. I wished I had more. There were grouse everywhere that would let you get close and you could shoot at. I had one judo point and needed a couple more. Then there is the CYA factor if you happened to damage a bunch of them at once, better have some more back at camp in a safe spot.

Don't forget to buy a small game license also.

I'm with Tom! If you carry only 2 there'll come a day when you wish you had 3.

We are archers after all and just how hard is it to pack extra arrows.

Besides, if you kill a bull with one arrow and you only have one or two spares in your quiver people are gonna think you missed 4 or 5 times.

I'll take 8-10 hunting arrows on a hunt, but only 4 in my quiver.  Will have another half-doen or so practice arrows for shooting around camp.
