today is the first day i can get in the woods and shoot a deer or hog this year.  i'm so jacked up its crazy. i don't know how much longer i can stay at work!!

i plan on hunting from the ground this afternoon so i can move around and scout this new wood lot a little bit more. i haven't ever hunted on the ground.  i figured i'd just move a little and look a lot until i find a good trail/sighn.

do you "ground guys" have any other tips?

Slow down, slow down some more,  pretty much don't move and it is still to fast!  I move quietly into the edge of where the animals should be and then really slow down.   I like to stop for 10 minutes at that spot and let the woods get used to me.  This gets rid of the rush we are all in as well.  I pick spots to move to while standing in place.  You should always stop at some kind of cover.   Plan your routes to be completely in the shade.   Never travel in a perfect straight line unless game is spotted.

If you're seriously hunting and not just scouting, you shouldn't move more than 100 yards in an hour, if that far. Stand and look more than you move, and try to move when the wind covers your sound. When you do move, break up your steps so you sound more like a squirrel than a human.

Ground blind is right level where deer see. Move slow unless it's full enclosed on all sides. Mine aren't.

I agree with what was said above about moving slow.
Think of it this way, every step you take your field of view changes so you can see or be seen at a different angle.
If you are moving it is more difficult to spot movement, so stop often.
Movement is second only to scent as a way of being busted.
Stay in the shadows. Move from cover to cover.
Last but certainly not least is plan your hunt to move into the wind.
