You're exactly right, Dave! I use The FallGuy system, so I can be connected from the moment I leave the ground until I get back down. It works great!

I cringe thinking about my early days with a Baker stand and "safety" belt!  Got the scars to prove it too!

I heard that Swamp Yankee!  I took several rides on the Baker slide myself years ago.

I bought one last year. I really should have spent the money on mud tires for my truck but thought my life was more important.

How do you get the fall guy attached on your first climb up the tree?

Jax,

I use my Seat O the Pants safety harness to climb the tree to attach the Fallguy to the tree. It's not a perfect way, as you have to unclip and re attach the harness from the tree before stepping on the stand, but it has worked for me.

If you have a straight tree with no limbs, you could climb the tree with a climber stand and harness to attach the Fallguy system- this way you would always be connected to the harness.
