Well I posted my new Morrison ILF riser earlier....
Well got the 40# med Kaya foam carbon limbs and two 8 strand strings from SBD... The bow should be right about 50#@28...(47@my 27) Then then work and confusion came in... I used some WallyWerld camo tape (until I get some skins... probably next season)
I started with some ICS Bow Hunter .500 spines... glued on 1 1/8" of an old Easton 2117 to help make the arrows bullet proof!!!
Had problems galore at first... Started with 175 grn +250 grn field tips and began cutting... Was hoping to tune up with the Centaur Big Game heads.... Well try as hard as I could I had trouble bareshafting... A long call to Bob Morrison on where I may had been going wrong.... uh coming from one piece longbows... I had learn about tiller.... Thanks BOB... Now that the tiller is correct, I was on the right track...
Well I don't understand how I got to where I did, because it seems it should be stiff... I was shooting for 525-550 grain arrows... Following Bobs Tuning method and then OL Adcocks, got me to here... Throw out perceptions and just observe the arrow...
Here's the target...
My bareshafts were with 175 grn field tips
( 20 yds, a lil weak-I didn't have any 150 grn fieldtips and 125 were too stiff) The broadheads are 150 grn Woodsmans @15 and 20yds...
I think this will work!!!
I didn't think the collaring would be such a big deal, but I guess the epoxy and about 15 grns for the alum effected the spine more than I thought... I am at 28.75 in... This seems way off to me, but leaving my prejudices and desires aside... the arrow showed me the way...
Using Pete wards calculator I get 424grn... But my best guesstimation my arrow weight should be a lil more... using epoxy for inserts and collar.... It is definitely lighter than I had hoped, but I am pleased with the tune... It is just over 9grn per pound and I usually like 10.5-12 grn per pound.. But then I don't have a scale and just use online calculators...
I wonder if the carbon foam limbs and the SBD limbs make it need a stiffer shaft...
Any way, I should be fine for whitetail...
