Arrow choosing?
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:48:00 PM »
Afternoon folks,

After reading up on the various types of arrows available in terms of materials I've had the thought hit me on the head as to why I see so many trad hunters shoot wooden arrows vs carbon and aluminum.

And at my local bass pro the shop guy would say wood is too inconsistent for me starting out (least I think he meant it in that way). Heck they wanted to push me toward compound from the start but nu-uh.

Anyways yeah he gave me carbon arrows but really what should I be going for? Please and thank you!

The choice im material is up to you. I started with wood and tried  A/C(at targets only) and didn't like them and I have been shooting wood consistantley since the beginning. Whatever material you use needs to be tuned to your bow(and your liking) as far as whats better, opinions vary. Its like a woman if you like the way it looks, feels, and it works for you keep it.

If you are new to the Trad game work on your form and fundementals and worry about the accuracy and techie stuff later. Its all about having fun.

Yeah I figured it'd be personal preference lol. I just hear such animosity towards wooden arrows its like wtf is that? lol.

I am currently healing my bow arm as the shoulder aches bad but yeah. I dont even think my bow is tuned, the shop guys got my bow threw a string on it and handed it back lol no nocking point or nothing!

Take some time to look through the How To section, and the shooters forum on the main forum page and you can get some tuning and shooting tips. And remember wood has many types and many are great arrow woods.
