Hex Shafts tappering point--HELP
« on: July 05, 2007, 10:09:00 PM »
I bought some hex shafts. I have tried a true center taper tool and cannot get the taper centered. Any suggestions. Thanks! Craig

How do the shafts fit in the guide?  You might need to wrap the shaft with a turn or two of tape to make it fit without wobble.

If you have access to a disk sander, I can help you with making a jig to grind your tapers.  This works much better than even the best pencil sharpener type tool.

Hey Fish, here is a link to a guide block from 3 Rivers.  It's actually made by Allegheny Mtn Arrows.   http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=52&s=8&p=109&i=8044

I made a similar deal for my sander.  e-mail your address and I'll send some pics.  They're worth a thousand words.

fishone, would you mind telling me what just the bare shaft weighs with those hexshafts?
Thanks a lot.
I am making some spruce arrows right now, but I am afraid they are going to turn out a little light. 350 grain bare shaft.
