Arrows in memory of 4 boys who passed. updated with Pics.
« on: September 10, 2011, 07:39:00 PM »
Some of you may know that 4 boys from our local football ( Mainland Mustangs: Linwood NJ)team died in a car accident. They were all friends of my oldest son who played FB with them since he was 7yo(now 16yo). I have given everyone of those kids rides to and from FB.My wife is best friends with the mother of one of the boys.

Just finished these in memory of the boys. The shafts have the team colors Green(crown dip),White(band and patterns on crown), and black bands and feathers for morning. In the white band are the initials of each boy and below is the date of the their death. Everything was hand painted due to my homemade hillbilly crester breaking. And they are all tiped with 4 blade Zwickeys. I will hunt with these all season in memory of the baoys. Thanks Tim

Tim,
I am very Sorry to hear this and may God be with each and every one of those boy's famiy and thier friends through this tragic time...As far as the cresting /crown have you considered contacking Onestringer about making up a crown wrap or a small wrap with those colors? If you never visited their website they have a section where they have done about a hundred or more custom wraps and I think if you showed them the teams Logo He could put the exact one on a wrap and I don't think it's expensive Like $12.00 for a dozen...Not sure if this is the route you would want to try or if you prefer the paint but Onestringer makes a great wrap and you can choose the correct circomference as well...God Bless you and I'm very sorry and will keep you in my thoughts and prayer's... Tim, I also would also like to express my sorrow for your son, your families, and for the community. Onestringer could make up wraps with the colors and you could include their names or initials also, perhaps the team mascot also. I hope you all find some healing through this.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for the families and my son. I had it in mind to do this by hand and ad each boys initials on the green band. I am gonna try and make up a stencil for the horizontal lines in the morning.I figure if I use a ruler and a fletching jig to get an even center line it will work. Thank You guys.

Very sad to hear and prayers for all in the community. As far as thoughts for arrows maybe do four point foot and put initials at each point of foot with cresting and feathers in school colors.

Also sorry for the communities loss! It sounds like it will be a tedious job to do by hand and using the stencils will probably be your best bet. There might be some slight differances in the arrows doing it this way but that is a great way to represent these boys, they were all differant but came together as a group! Great idea and get some pics for all to see.

Sorry to hear, what a shame and loss. You might try using pinstriping tape or even fletch tape up the length of the arrow and then hitting them with spray paint. Hope you all find peace with your loss.

Tim.
I remember your original thread. I pray your son and community are dealing with the loss of those young men. You have honored them well my friend! Hats off and head bowed.

Those look good.
For the stripes you could do them with acrylic craft paint and some masking tape. Use the blue painter's tape for freshly painted surfaces (that part's very important). If you need to make the tape narrower just use a straight edge and razor to cut some to what you need.
