Picking serving diameter vs. string size/type vs. nock

Are there any good guidelines for what serving to use for X number of strands of Y type string for Z type nock?

I'm planning to pick up some FF type string (haven't decided which) and don't know which serving diameter to by.  I guess probably 12 strand strings for 45 to 50 pound range.  Plus I haven't decided to shoot Classic nocks on woodies or aluminum versus the GoldTip nocks.  Guess I could serve for the Classics and sand some on the throat of the GT nocks.

Thoughts?

If you decide to use 8125, Dynaflight '97, or 450+ I can help.  12 strands of 8125, use .025 or .026 and you may want to run the tag end of the serving the length of the serving for Classic nocks.  12 strands of Dyna, .025 or .026 for Classics.  With 450+, 12 strands is overkill unless you have a monster draw weight.  8-10 strands for most bows, and also .025 or .026 serving for Classic nocks.

I'd have to look with Gold Tip nocks, but off the top of my head I think .021 fits best with the above.

Good gracious Falk--I don't think I could decipher that even if I knew German!

I take the easy way out--keep a lot of different types of nocks on hand, and several different sizes of serving.  Much easier on my brain cell(s?).

12 strands of d97 and .024 halo serving work perfect for my gold tip nocks.

Try a 11/32 bohning to a 5/16ths bohning. The string grooves ARE NOT the same.   It's just to simple to add or subtract a strand if needed or buy a different sized serving.  If you have a shop nearby it gets even easier.  Build a string, have them serve but not tie off a small section to see what sized nock fits and what doesnt.   For me it's all trial and error to find what combo fits.  I hate filing/sanding/heating up nocks to get them to fit.
