PVC backyard bow rack..?
« on: September 12, 2011, 04:07:00 PM »
OK I just spent an hr. or so running around the aisles of Home Depot and Lowes looking for
the parts to build this with no luck. The main problem is the base part and then the mid section where you are coming off a 3"-4" pipe to a 90 to a 1" reducer
Does anyone have a parts # list for this or know where to get them or know what they are called?
TIA

Edit:
I've done a search and the member who posted this is no longer a member evidently.

You are in Luck Sir...   :biglaugh:
The bottom is a 4X3" p.v.c. closet/toilet flange that can slip in 3" p.v.c.D.W.V. Drain, Waste, Venting Schedule 40 Pipe...
Then a 3x1/1/2" p.v.c. d.w.v. Tee (ASSUMING YOU USE 3" PIPE...
a'PC.OF 3" P.V.C. D.W.V. PIPE (SOLID OR FOAMCORE)OR SOME CALL IT CELLCORE ...
1 1/2" x1" P.V.C. Bushing used as a reducer...
1" p.v.c.pressure tee where it splits
2-1" reguler 90 degree elbows
2-1" caps
1-4oz. can of p.v.c. glue/cement if you glue it...
1" p.v.c. plastic pipe..
You can buy the pipe in 5' sections now at Lowes...

You also need a board and about 4 to 6  3/4"wood screws to mount to the board...

That's the one I built!  Quite a ways from "no longer a member here anymore", but I don't frequent the boards as much as I used to.

That is awesome on the bowrack.

One thing, if you took the cap off the top, you could use it to hold your arrows, and your bow...

Way cool, nice job

The thread I pulled it from had someone saying an other member had built it. I forget his name now but I PM'd and emailed him with no response.

Sorry about that, am about to go put this thing together here in a bit.

Cool.  I have a couple arrow holders that look like that.  All I need to do is add the pipes to make the bow rack part.  Thanks for posting the pic.

You could put another reducing Tee on the other side, a little lower for a second bow if you have a friend that shoot with you.

Am going to stain the base to protect it from water damage and cut the main tube about 5" shorter but that's it,works for me.
Thx for the help again.

Like La Trapper has said you could add another tee but if someone is buying materials to build this they do make a Cross Tee so two of these tee's aren't needed...They make a 3"X11/2" X11/2" CROSS TEE and a wye as well...You really have to hunt for the Cross tee but they are out there...I've used them in many a home I plumbed tieing in two lavatory sinks to a 3" drain/vent...

Mike if you are cutting it shorter so your arrow fletching will be out and easier to reach you can just add sand into the pipe to keep the arrows high and you won't have to bend down to grab your bow...Just a thought before you cut it..Keefer's <><

Great ideas Keefer, the cross tee will maintain the same height if you choose to make it a double.  And putting sand in the tube will keep the center of gravity low making it a stable platform as well as jacking up the arrows.

Simple but..........why didn't we all think of it!!!LOL
