Bow Quiver (strap on) Question
« on: September 19, 2011, 12:54:00 PM »
I am thinking of putting a BOA on my longbow.  I see lots of bows with a strap style quiver.  My question is.... where on the limb do you put them.  Does a strap quiver cause the bow to shoot different? And if the strap is tight enough so the quiver doesnt move, does this hurt the limbs by not allowing the limbs to flex during the draw?   :dunno:

I try and keep my as close to where the riser fades into the limbs. By putting it here it does not effect the working part of the limb. I keep a quiver on my bow year round so I do not notice it making a difference in the bow.

Yes, put it on the fadeouts. Some strap quivers can cause your bow to shoot differently. With them you will need to tune to the quiver and then as Jmatt1957 said you would need to keep it on the bow.

We (EFA) make lightweight quivers that won't change how your bow shoots.

2fletch, what is the strap made of (nylon or rubber?) and how do I know what size strap I need?

Our strap is heavy duty velcro with layers of leather and rubber to grip the limbs. They will fit almost any bow.

I have three Thunderhorn BOA's.  One is an older small Fry, then a new small fry and the other is full size.

I, as was stated above, have them attached at the fades. They work well and have not caused me any tuning problems.  I have tried several others and have not been pleased with the "lighter weight" strap ons.  They just seem "dinky" to me.  I like the weight the Thunderhorn adds to my LB.  I can, and occasionally do, take my quiver off when in a tree stand.  No change in shooting method....  I also shoot Arrow Dynamics arrows which may have something to do with the tuning question.

Tried I guess about all of the strap on quivers. For me, none are equal to the EFA.
