ILF Risers Opinions?
«
on:
September 23, 2011, 11:34:00 PM »
I've enjoyed ILF risers off and on for several years now...mostly Hoyt bows used to shoot indoor spots. Though, right now, all I have in the rack is a converted Black Bear riser. Since I'm in the market for a new hunting recurve I've decided I want an ILF bow this time around.
I'm particularly interested in Dryads at this point, but want to hear your opinions on your favorites.
Thanks!

Personally I am pretty impressed with my Sky 17" TDX riser with Border HEX 5 H limbs.

Take a real close up look at the Hoyt Excel Riser. For the bucks it is a kick butt riser.I am shooting the 23 inch and LOVE it.

Dont forget you can dress 'em up if shiny metal...... this 25" Spigarelli club target riser was flourescent red. Rough them up, vaccuum and tack cloth, wipe with acetone, spray with quality primer and whatever you want for camo...them overcoat with about ten coats of clear flat spray for protection. You can get flat laquer from hobby shops. You can get ten coats and be shooting the next morning.

I have a Hoyt Excel and think it's awesome. I'm thinking very seriously about getting one of the new TradTech Apex risers though.
I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I think the Excels are nice but it makes for a long bow even when using short limbs. I like a bow 60"s or less and when you use 15" risers you can do that easily. Shawn

You can't do better in a wood riser then Morrison.Metal would be a toss up between the sky or titan.

I'm the opposite Shawn. Olympic FITA background, I dont like shooting anything under 64" and prefer a 66" recurve.
Thats what is so good about ILF... versatility.

I have a 13" Zipper with Long Black Max Carbon limbs. The bow is fast and quite. It's a keeper. Right now I'm looking for a 17" riser if someone has one.

I've owned one of Bob Morrison's 15" metal risers. It shot great and had tons of adjustability. However, I find I like the warmth and beauty of wood so the two lower Morrison risers [ mini 13" and a 15"] in this picture are the ones that easily meet all of my needs.

I've got one 17" Dryad with ACS 4G limbs for a 62" longbow. Only bow I've shot that keeps up with my Centaurs. I'm waiting for my new Dryad with CG limbs. That should be awesome.
