Brownie has a new home
« on: September 28, 2011, 10:22:00 AM »
I have been a member here for several years now although I rarely post. I have been too busy trying to learn from you all. Anyway, for quite some time I have had the thought that I would like to try a Hill longbow, specifically the Wesley Special. I'm not sure what it was about that one that appealed to me but it did.
Recently I was browsing the classified section here and found that exact bow in a weight very close to what I was thinking. I thought it might be a little light at my stubby draw length and figured that it would be gone before I could make up my mind anyhow. Imagine my shock to see it still there after a couple of days.
Long story short, I contacted the seller, a gentleman that goes by Mudd. He assured me that I would have no problem getting enough weight to hunt with the bow. I talked it over with my wife. She decided that since my birthday is right around the corner this would be a nice present and I made the purchase.
well, my wife was wrong. It is a great present!!! I recieved the bow yesterday and snuck it out between rain showers to shoot a few arrows. Not only is this a very pretty bow, it is very smooth and hits where I look! WOW!
I just have to say thank you to Mudd, who is a top notch guy. Right in the middle of our deal there was a post about a sale that went pretty bad for the seller. I contacted Mudd and let him know that I was totally ok with him holding the bow until he recieved my payment. He told me that the bow was not worth any more than the payment so the trust thing was a two way street. Great transaction with a great guy. Thanks again Roy.

Congrats on your Hill! I've been wanting to give one a go myself and will eventually get one.

David,
I would be happy to post pics of the bow but I am stuck at work for about the next 26 hours. I'll get on that as soon as I can.
