Can't believe it!!
« on: September 29, 2011, 02:59:00 PM »
I was out scouting one last time on Saturday, one last place to check and we're walking a side hill near a gas well.  You know the type of area, a hill with knee high vegetation and all sorts of tangled vegetation underneath.  I take a step with my uphill foot, the right foot, and as soon as I lift my left foot I'm on the ground, faster than you can blink. There was a 3-4" log pointing straight downhill and wet to boot! No problem getting up, didn't feel anything other than a little embarassment and the scouting continued.  Fast forward to Monday morning, a slight twinge in the lower lumbar region.  It all starts snowballing until Tuesday afternoon, I can't sit, walk, sleep, stand, you name it.
Well I'm off to the bone and muscle fixer this afternoon.  Doesn't look promising for Saturday's opener and I've been going crazy most of the summer waiting for this season to get here.  I just can't believe it!  Haven't had to go through this in a long time, like neck surgery back in 1996 and I lost an entire season.  I'm hoping that this can be reversed quickly, so I can at least pull back the string and get out and get to some of my ground stands.  Wish me luck

Sounds like your muscles all seized up.  Hopefully nothing worse than that.  If that's the case, they should be able to give you muscle relaxers and have you on your feet in a few days, if you can stand to lie around long enough for them to work!

Good luck!

Hang in there, sounds like you just need a little "adjustment".

Saw the "Miracle Worker" this afternoon!  He said I'll be out for the opener on Saturday!  Wahooooo!  Now to be able to fling a few arrows tomorrow afternoon after I get back from the second appointment!  I've got to tell ya, I never would have thought that I'd be feeling like I am right now.  I'm amazed!  Having never been to chiropractor before, I was the doubting Thomas before I went.
So the opener is not going to be missed here in Western Pa!  Just hope that not shooting for a week doesn't screw with my head.  Guess I'll know tomorrow when I get back.  Thanks for the words of support!

Well the optimism was pre-mature at best.  Felt great after the initial appointment, then tried to sleep on a bed!  Things were right back to where they were.  A second appointment with the "cracker" and things still aren't back to where I'd feel I could draw, twist, kneel, crouch, and shoot.  Looks like it's going to be a while for me.
Wishing all of you, that were able to get out for the opener, a fantastic day and that it was successful on many levels!

I avoided going to the chiropractor for 20 some years and finally gave in due to a change in insurance policies and the advice of a good friend who has had back surgery in the past and thinks it would not have been required had he visited a crack master instead.

On my first visit to the chiropractor he told me that it was going to get worse before it getting better.  I went twice a week for a month, once a week for two months and now go once a month.  The friend, mentioned earlier, only goes when he feels an adjustment is needed (insurance related decision).  My guess is you will miss opening day but not the season.

Good Luck!

There are dozens of cures that work for some people and not others. I started going to a chiropractor when my back got so bad I couldn't get in or out of a car and had to lie on the bare floor. Initially it helped, but finally things got so bad that by the time I got back home from the chiropractor (and I felt great when he finished) I would be right back where I started. Family doctor recommended physical therapy, which I tried for about 3 months with no change. Told the family doctor I thought I was finally ready for spinal surgery and he said "not yet". Sent me to a pain management clinic and I was REALLY skeptical. Bingo! The nice lady doctor whips a shot into my spine under x-ray guidance so it doesn't get into the spinal fluid. Walk out of the place feeling like a 20-year old. Lasts about 3 months and I gradually start aging. By the end of the 4th month things start stiffening up and we do it again. I sure prefer that to someone doing some cutting in there.

Long story only slightly longer, don't panic. One thing or another is going to help you back to normal. Let's hope it happens early in the season!
