What can you tell me about this old Bear bow
« on: September 29, 2011, 05:34:00 PM »
I have a long bow that my Dad picked up at a garage sale.

Blonde color (looks almost like clear glass), straight grip with a piece of wood on theleft side of the handle for a shelf (part of this piece of wood is under the leather handle wrap).

The bow is about 62" tip-tip unstrung.  On the handle is:
c.11031
46#

(under this is an old piece of tape on which is typed:
45 @ 27-1/2"

There is a yellow decal on the lower limb that says:

Pat. Applied For

On the upper limb is a yellow decal:  Cub
On the other side is a yellow decal with a running bear at the top of it:
Bear
Grayling Michigan

I've never strung it, and am frankly afraid to for fear of damage.

Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Sounds like an early Bear Cub, prior to 53. Move this to the Trad history and collecting area and they will probably be able to zero in.

Pictures always help.
Relax,

Cubs aren't particularly valuable as a collector but are decent shooting bows.
But a string on it and go shoot it
