Colorado Elk Hunts...No Blood
« on: October 02, 2011, 03:35:00 PM »
Here's a few pics of the Colorado mountains during the best time of year. Late color change this year but still beautiful up there. This is the third weekend of the season 9/16 - 9/18 2011.
Only saw Elk on opening morning, all cows and no shots at 25 yards...must be learning something though as this place gets a lot of pressure all season. Hope you enjoy the scenery.

Here's a few from a different part of the state. I decided a change of scenery would be nice for the final weekend...

This area was loaded with Mule Deer, which of course I had no tag for...

This wasn't the only girl to wander through camp this weekend, but she was a lot bigger than she looks in this picture. My girlfriend freaked out a little saying, "WHAT IS THAT?!" LOL...it was within 10 yards for a little while.

Nice comfy camp for a couple days...

Oops, this shoulda been in the last part...

Toasty to the mosty...

A couple more shots for you guys...I found good sign around here and only saw one other hunter the whole weekend. I think I'll hit this area again next season. I'll post some more pics in a few, gotta catch the end of the Lions game...   :campfire:

I think this is a Mulie rub. All the other rubs I found were at least 7-8 feet up the trunk...

Wouldn't ya know it, the freshest tracks were on the road just below camp...

Somebody ate good...

Gonna bivy in here next year, I called one in with cow calls but it hung up until the wind hit the back of my neck...

Gotta love to see this...   :)

A couple more of the scenery on the drive out.

Congratulations to all who scored this season! Now I have to wait 3 weeks til my Mulie tag is valid. I'll be out with the rifle hunters during that one.
