I was wondering what kind of string material everybody likes out there for fast flight or dacron, bcy or brownell?

I've used BCY for years, for one simple reason--they have always treated me like a million dollar customer, although I was far from it when I was getting started.  I've spent a lot of money with them since, but they had no idea that would be the case.

My experience with a Brownell rep. wasn't nearly so good.  That was many years ago and that person may not even work there any more, but I'm happy with BCY products so I haven't checked back into them.

One thing I have learned--if one of them comes out with a material that works well, the other is going to have their version out before long.

I use Fast Flight from Brownell simply because that's what the local archery shop had when I wanted my first roll. When I want more colors I bought the same as I don't like the idea of using different materials in the one string. Looks like I'm now stuck with FF as the rolls won't empty at the same time. I'm sure the BCY materials are just as good.

first and foremost - if a bow can handle modern string fibers (high modulus polyethylene, aka "hmpe" and brand names such as fastflight, dynaflight, astroflight, etc), DO use those fibers and don't waste time with dacron (polyester).  the prime advantage of hmpe bowstrings is *consistency* due to low stretch and creep, and higher tension per strand that allows for low strand count bowstrings.

i've spun up thousands of bowstrings over the decades and i started off with brownell b43 dacron because it was the only most viable game in town.  for way more than a decade i've been using bcy fibers exclusively for all the reasons chad has mentioned.  ray and company are great folks to deal with, and will go out of their way to tailor the fiber to yer liking - as they did with me and dynaflight'02, which is a low wax version of dynaflight'97 that's made for spinning and not twisting, and yes it can be special ordered even if it's not listed in their catalog.
