The "woodchucker's" goin' ALUMINIUM!!!!!
Several years ago, My good Friend and neighbor Lou Wendover, passed away. His wife Jean gave me all of his guns and bowhunting equipment. Amongst the gear were about 2 dozen "Autumn Orange" 2016s with thier crumbling plastic vanes, and about 3 dozen old green Bear Razorheads.
I stripped the shafts, and took them over to my good Friend and fellow Tradganger, Joe Skipp. Joe crownd dipped them in chartruse, crested, and refletched them with chartruse and blaze orange feathers. I set them all aside as strictly "hunting" arrows...
That fall, I killed a fat spikehorn with one of those arrows tipped with an old green Razorhead. After the season,I put them away, and have only used them once or twice since.
Today I was out shooting in the backyard. All of my arrows were right in the "kill-zone" of my deer target, but the "consistancy" just wasn't there... I remembered Joe saying, (who actualy is a MUCH better shot than I will ever be!!!) "I like shooting aluminium, they're so much more consistant" and I thought about Lou's old arrows... I went down in the basement and grabbed one of the arrows out of the bucket. (I had a couple fletched with orange, because Joe ran short) I started shooting again, and was suprized to see the arrow hit closer, and closer to the X-ring every time!!!!!
I went inside when I was done shooting, and took 4 arrows tipped with Razorheads, screwed a Judo point on a 5th one, and put them in the Selway quiver on my old 1967 Grizzly...
I sat and looked at my set-up for awhile...
You can just smell the MOJO!!!!!
