How is the rut looking in Eastern Kansas and when do you think it will peak?

In my experiance for the last 5 years the chase has been the  best between Nov 7th and 11th.

Last year I did not see any chasing until like the 13th.

Ricky,

I was just out in Princeton Mo. this weekend and the rut is on now.  I shot a doe that was being chased by a forky.  The rut is starting early this year, just like the color change in the trees. Get out and about now.

Not yet. Typically 2nd week of november, however I thought last year was different. I saw very little rutting activity. It was also very warm.

Yep the real rut will happen in November. I prefer the pre-rut lots more action and deer running around.

One forkhorn chasing a doe around hardly qualifies as rut activity, Now if there was two or three more bucks chasing the same doe I would say that doe was getting ready.

Isn't mid October the time of the false rut? And then three weeks later the real rut is on?

Always been early (2nd week) or november. though it was real slow last year. Hope for a stronger rut this year.

Well, I saw three bucks chasing does this weekend - false rut or not, it's time to be in the woods.

Young bucks start chasing earlier that big mature ones. I've rattled in nice 130-145 bucks in October. November I rattle in 150+, and the smaller ones. So from my experiences the "real" rut doesn't start till the second week in November.
