Noisy Lone Wolf Seat Cushion?
« on: October 19, 2011, 03:10:00 PM »
I just got done hunting a couple of dead calm days and noticed something about my seat cushion. When I get up the seat cushion makes a noise when it is decompressing from when I was sitting on it. I never noticed this before (second hand climber and long time user). I am wondering if it just started as a result of getting wet or something. It was quite warm 75+. Has anybody else noticed this with theirs? I was contemplating replacing the seat but I do not want the replacement to do it as well.

Any idea what year your climber was made? I'm guessing that you have the newer style cushion. I have a hand climber that was made in the states before LW did all the moving around. It is the newer style of seat. I can't say that I have ever noticed any noise. My brother has an older climber that has the closed cell foam seat, I'm not sure if that could make any noise "squeaking". He hass never complained of any. -Eric

my older US made LW's don't make a noise but I usually remove all the cushions fromall my stands and then I get old wool throw's from the thrift store and pad the stand seats with that. finally I use Military grade (Black) duct tape and tape over the whole padding by going completely around a couple times to seal it from above and below.

what this does for me is I can turn/spin my butt with no noise at all even with a deer 10' away from the base of the tree, theres no hint of noise!     dew or rain water just rolls off and it last years (unlike the cheap duct tape)  also I've noticed the small animals or birds don't want to rip it apart to build nests.

if anything the cushions are nice to use as a back rest with some bow rope or twine.

It is the newer style seat and was US made. I am certain it was not doing it before or I would have noticed.

J.Williams - What type of cushion did you replace with and do you pack the stand up with it attached (like the regular one)?

Mine is a older US made stand. The seat is totally silent... and totally uncomfortable as well!

I had the same problem with my older LW hand climber.  I sewed up a polar fleece cover that I can lip the cushion into.  I take the cushion with me when I leave so it doesn't get wet for my next sit...tippit

LV2HUNT,I just bought a 2" thick camo foam cushion from Gander Mtn.and cut it to fit and attached it to the seat platform with the velcro straps off the original cushion.Probably something better out there but it's an improvement over the stock cushion. With all the feedback they have gotten on their seat cushions,I'm surprised LW hasn't come out with one that's easier on the arse.
