Bear grizzly for a 30" draw?

after searching the threads to no avail, I'm posting this question:

Can a Bear Grizzly (58" length) be safely and comfortably shot at a 30" draw length?

Yes!!!!!

When the older Grizzlys were advertized in the  Bear catalog draw weights were at the "standard" 28" and the draw limit was "unlimited"

If you have an old bow that has NOT ben shot in a long time.....DO NOT just haul it right back to 30"!!!!!(after all some of these bows are 30-40 years old) Work the limbs a little at a time over a couple days untill you get it back to 30"

Also,after you string the bow,it doesn't hurt to give it a good "flexing".

Safely, yes.  Comfortably, for me no.  My draw was a hair over 30" when I was shooting a newer grizzly.  I didn't like the finger pinch - a few shots a day wasn't a problem, but after shooting any significant amount my fingers started to get a little sore.

Hey Shamus my go to bow is a 58" Super Grizzly by Bear. I also have a 30" draw, it's smooth and you can't feel it stack at all. Like Jeremy said sometimes the longer draws will cause some finger pinch but mine doesn't.

next question: what will a 45#@28" grizzly weigh at 30"?

Add 2.5 per inch. The bow will be 50# at 30" draw.

No wonder my 55# dreamcatcher is a little heavy, my draw is just over 31".

Hello Eddiejclayton,  How about that my friend.  It may even be more, say 64 pounds.  You can almost bet on 3 pound per inch on 58 to 60 inch bows, after that 28" mark.  By the way, it's been that way since the first recurve was made. 8^).

The Grizzly is very smooth, with no stack to nearly 31 inches.

It certainly explains some things for me.  I was starting to think that I'm a little girly man or something.  I've only been shooting for a few weeks and usually use a 30#@28 (which is apparently 37.5@31)  bow most of the time.  I also picked up a 45#@28 that I'm going to give a try.

I learn something new on here everday.....and I apparently have a lot more to learn.   :(

It might FEEL like stack but put it on a scale and see if it's increasing more per inch.

It might just be you feel honest weight.    

I have an old Ben Pearson Hunter that I 'felt' was stacking at my 29" draw but the scale showed the same increase in weight per inch...so it wasn't stacking.
