Limbs for my Dalaa
« on: October 21, 2011, 11:29:00 PM »
I have a riser.  So what are the best limbs for a reasonable price?  I hear a lot about the Back Max limbs.  Are they as good as the Dalaa wood and glass limbs?  How about the Black Max carbon wood, worth the extra money?

If your looking for a budget set of limbs I would look at the KAP windstorm carbon limbs.   They are closeout right now for $139 dollars.   I just got a set that were #46 on 19" riser.  On my 15" Sky riser they are #61 @ 29.5" and have been very impressive.  With a little bit of tuning  I got them as quiet as any other bow I have and are shooting 600gr weighted carbons @ 193fps.   The black max carbons are good limbs as are the BF extreme.   I have a set of tradtech longbow limbs on a 13" zipper riser and have been pretty impressed with them also.  Good looking and fast.

First I would check out the classified section.  There are some really good bargains on there right now.   There is an XL set of dryad limbs that should have sold days ago.  Dryad limbs are excellent longbow limbs.

I am thinking some recurve limbs to start, and I want a quiet hunting bow with good performance.  I have shot the Dryad LB limbs and the ACS ILF limbs also.  Nice.

Could'nt quite down my Daala with the recurve limbs, so went to Dryad Epic longbows limbs and that did the trick. Actually got better performance too as a bonus.

Anyone out there who can compare the Dalaa limbs to other limbs available like the Black Max?
Are the carbon woods worth the extra cost?

How big a deal is it to ream the holes in the non Hoyt and Sky limbs?

I have a DAS kinetic with 2 sets of limbs. The first set is the cheap KAP limbs. The second is an older set of hoyt c plus limbs. I like the cplus limbs because they are heavier.
I think any of the medium priced limbs would be hard to beat. When it comes to ILF limbs they all seem to be better than average in the middle price range.

Converting the limbs over to the Das connection is easy. Pay attention that the limbbut doesnt rub on the back of the limb pocket. Give a swab of super glue to anything you sand or drill on the limb.
