back in the 60's, comanche bowmen in brooklyn was one of the premier clubs in nyc, along with mine, pelham archers in the bronx.  i believe that both are now defunct.  we used to hold indoor shooting events at what is now pro line archery range in queens.  i think there is also a 'queens archery' indoor range in flushing - google 'em both up, but my best guess is that they'll be light on trad archers.

if you can drive to jersey, trad archery is much more alive 'n' kickin'  :D

Rich,

get out and attend shoots. All it takes is meeting one person and you will be introduced to a whole new world fast.  Although there may not be many trad archers at these places Rob mentioned, it only takes one.

Meeting people was somewhat slow for me at first but now after attending many events, I feel like I have met a lot of great people.

Good luck and hope to meet you if you ever make it "upstate".

Next summer there will be a lot of 3D events, go to them, sooner or later you will have a "core" group of guys to shoot with.  I know there are a lot of guys from the island and I know of a few guys in teh Bronx, but I do not know anyone from queens or Brooklyn.

Again, Welcome and Good Luck!
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Scattergun,

Your best bet to meet up with traditional archers is probably Suffolk Archers. Majority of the local ranges are compound oriented.
