Indeed, what a day this was!  I got to the first shoot since I was sick.  It was a Halloween shoot at Skookum Archery Club in Puyallup, WA.  They did a fantastic job of setting up a real fun event, with prizes for best costumes and special targets.  Ann and I plus her sister went down in the morning.  The shoot started out with a closed range fun shoot:

and then went to the woods course, with nice printed Halloween targets on all the bales.  Here are a couple of them:

I met my buddy Jesse down there and we had a fine time on the course together.   After the shoot, Ann surprised me by suggesting that we drive back north to Snoqualmie pass and do some stump shooting so that her sister could see the mountains and the deep woods up there.  That part of the day is coming up in the next set...

OK... up the woods, the stump shooting looked like this:

I had shot Bamboozle at the shoot, but had brought along my new (actually vintage Hoyt Pro Medalist) target bow, which I'm trying out as a trad style 3D bow.  It's a 70" recurve and so incredibly smooth drawing that I am able to shoot it even though it's 36#.  It's also deadly accurate!  This is a three shot group at about 25 yds:

I had one set of really long, roughly 50 yd., shots at a big stump.  I came in low, then hit it three times.  Unfortunately, I tried for one more, trying to get up to a better centered shot, and went over the top of the stump, losing the arrow.  Cathy, the sister in law, decided she absolutely had to find the arrow and spent a good 20 to 30 minutes beating the brush for it... She was very proud when she was successful!

Still not satisfied, we finished off the trip with a run up to Snoqualmie Falls:

We do live in spectacular country!

I came home totally beat and soaked out the aches in the hot tub!    What a great day!

Thanks Dick for the tour through my old stomping grounds.  Spent a lot of time in the Snoqualmie area chasing deer, bear and elk.

Glad you had such a spectacular day, Cap'n. I gotta get out the Pacific Northwest.  You live in a beautiful area Dick.

That green 3D bear is quite creepy.  Did you kill it?
