Wright Archery – The Fire hawk longbow
I’ve been meaning to do this for a while as Rodney Wright was so generous to let a group of bow addicts test a very unique bow. The fire hawk is a fine longbow from fit/ finish to performance. I found it to be very light in the hand and the grip though on the slim side filled my hand nicely. I had no trouble keeping them in a 5” group @ 20 from the very first arrow and I’m sure if I had the opportunity to shoot it regularly I could tighten that up.  I don’t have a chronometer but the speed seemed very consistent with my other quality longbows. I found that I could shoot a variety of spine with good results in all 3 flavors (wood-aluminum-carbon) without moving nock or brace height.  This particular bow had yew veneers and bamboo cores. It was accented with bacote overlays and the tips were a work of art.  The unique shape, beautiful craftsmanship and solid performance make this bow one that discriminating archers/hunters should consider for their next addition to their archery collection.

Thanks Rodney!

Yep, I can't argue with anything you said.  Rodney's a real stand up guy.  I've got one of his Stalker bows and love it too.  I've called a couple of times with questions and he always took care of me and answered any questions I had.

The Firehawk is one fantastic bow.  I loved it the moment I picked it up.  It weighs next to nothing and throws a 5-600 grn. arrow with force.  All you hear is the arrow slamming into the target.  Like said above, the bow is not picky about arrows.

The only problem I had with it was when shooting at the 50 yd. targets.  I consistantly shot over the targets back.  This bow doesn't seem to have any arrow drop all the way out to 50 yd.  This bow was spot on for me.  One of the best bows I've ever shot.  If I had the money I certainly would buy one of these.  I can see why there is never one of these in the classifieds.

Thanks Rodney, really enjoyed the bow.  You make some fine bows.  Wish I had one of each.

I had that bow. My only "concern" was the size of the grip.  I'm used to shooting a "more substantial" grip.  Beyond that, it's an absolutely beautiful and great shooting bow.  With a bit more time, the size of the grip wouldn't matter.

I like that shape.  I saw it in TBH magazine, but wasn't sure about it.  Thanks for the better pics.  Black and white magazine pics don't do it justice.
