Need advice on arrow building tools
«

Just started shooting carbons, tried a couple of pre-made sets, and I realize I need to be able to build 'em up from shafts to really get the tune I want.. cut, install inserts and nocks, and fletch.
Only thing I have at this point is a grain scale,some Duco, and a selection of points from 100 - 250 grn.
I know I'll need a fletching jig, of course, but looking for suggestions & advice on what other stuff I need to set up and tune my own. Thanks!

I'm just now trying carbons myself and as far as fletching jigs I use a Bitzenburger. I'm guessing you could use a Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel to cut the arrows. I plan on ordering mine cut to length.

Arrow saw over 6000 RPM load;
Fletching jig - from $30 to $300-$400(Aerovane);
Feathers or vanes;
Nocks; Nock tool is nice to have;
Arrow squaring device (like a G5);
Hot melt insert glue - I like it better than epoxy, since you can repair any damage a easier;
Correct sized inserts for points or broadheads;
Nice to haves:
Flething alignment tool (if fletch without nocks);
Broadhead alignment tool;
Feather or vane stripper (for those rare mistakes);
Fletching tape (a great alternative to glue);
Alcohol lamp for hit melt glue;
Probably leaving a lot out.

One thing to add is that while fletching jigs are stable I mounted mine to a 2'x2' board and the built a drawer under to store all my arrow making supplies in so they are in one spot.
A couple of things missed were a cleaner to clean your arrowshafts with before gluing up with feathers. For flecthing jig I use the Jo-Jan myself. Also need to decide if you want left wing helical or right helical jig.

I recommend a Bitzenberger fletch jig. Buy one and it will last a long time. And fletch tape. You can make a small torch out of a baby food jar and a wick for melting hot melt glue.
