A message I recieved from the wife
« on: November 04, 2011, 02:56:00 PM »
I alway tell my wife where I am hunting. Especially when I am by myself. But today when I told her where I would be after work I got this message sent to me in an email.

"ok. Just so you know,  I really expect you to hunt every night and it makes me chuckle that you inform me everyday that you are hunting... P:  "

Now if I could just kill something.  I had 2 good opportunities the other day and well lets just say I didn't pick a spot.

I have the same deal, she don't care where I go as long as I let her know in case somethin happens and somebody has to look fer me!

My wife that is, just so nobody gets the wrong idea!  :)
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I have to let everyone know that im out hunting too so they keep my wolf in the house. Its an awful thing to be sound asleep leaning against a tree and get cold nosed by a timber wolf, lol.

Just curious if you told the wife about your "opportunities". At least you got the adrenaline rush, and someone cares where you are. That makes you a winner.
If it's in your way, move it.

I know that My wife couldn't find Me if she tried. But I always tell her where I'm going so she can tell My Brother or Son so they can find Me.

Keep after them James. You'll tag one before long.Good luck.

I know my wife could not find me either,so I mark aerial photos of my hunting area and number the stands.
If I tell her I am hunting #5 and would get in trouble she could show the map to some one who could find me

Great idea with the numbered tree stands! My wife goes hunting with me, hasn't been able to connect just yet, but we are going to sit together till she gets a few deer under her belt. I don't mind, the sight of her shaking like a leaf after she drew back on a doe earlier this year made me realize I have a hunting buddy for life  :)

She's awesome and a keeper.

Having said that, let me say something that will bring everyone down...

I had a friend several years ago that didn't come home.  Ever.  first question everyone needs to know to come find you is, "Where were you hunting, where were you going and what did you have with you?"  Knowing this would have helped figure out when to call Search and Rescue.  Keep sending her notes when you go out(tell her this story) and hunt EVERY night.

Shoot well.

Kirk   :)

Oh, and now I always tell my wife when she should panic, call search and rescue and start worrying.  That's usually the morning after I'm due back home.  Makes you think about your plans a little more, but it makes it easier on your loved ones if things go wrong.

I have aerial views of my hunting grounds. On these I have marked and named my tree stand locations along with the GPS locations. I tell my wife if I don't call by noon on morning hunts or 2 hours after dark on evening hunts something is wrong.

Since I don't choose the stand until I arrive they will still have to look for the right stand.

I always tell my wife when I'm going, but not always where.  Where she works some of the guys like to ask where I'm hunting.  Since I hunt mostly public land I'm pretty private about it.  I do always carry my cell phone and excercise safety.

My wife wants me to call her when I am out of the woods and on pavement. Plus most times it means a hot meal will be waiting when I get home.

My wife has several of my friend's home and cell numbers and they know where my stands are and where to start looking if I don't come home.
