Ok New bow and arrows.
« on: November 09, 2011, 12:07:00 AM »
Not the pretties of either but I did them myself with a lot of insight off the bench.

She is and Osage, with a floppy rest and leather wrap. Don't know the poundage just know it is more then my 45# viper.

Thanks to Jeremy and Semo for the stave and the rest of the bench for all the knowledge shared.

Sour wood shafts, turkey feathers, and steel points I cut out of a spatula. Thanks to Pat for the shafts, sinew and feathers.

Now next year I just hope to add some stone points.  Now to take any deer with this set up, and finer trophy will not be found I say. Thanks for looking just thought I would share with yall.

Very, very cool! Just remember when someone says "so what'd ya kill that deer with"? You can say "with a spatula"!

Taking a deer with a bow flinging arrows, all of which you made yourself, has to be the ultimate rush.

Good work and good luck.

Nice, but you went and cut the shelf on the wrong side!!!!! (haha).

Good looking bow and arrows. Now go kill something with it and post up some hero shots.

Guys, Kelly started this bow while he was in Iraq. We, on The Bowyers Bench, helped him through most of the building of it but Kelly did all the work...and that was no easy task because of the lack of tools plus being in a war zone. He used the exhaust from a diesel generator to do the heat straightening and procured some tools from the motor pool or carpentry shop.
Kelly has done a jam up job on his bow and now on his primitive arrows. We can't wait to see Kelly in a hero shot with his first primitive kill on a Kansas whitetail.

Thanks for the kind words. Bisch there is no rest cut in, just a floppy style glued on.

I hope this weekend will be my time, I will be heading into the woods with that set up in hand.

Wow, a spatula eh?  That is "doing it the hard way."  Good luck killing something with your own creation - gotta be a rush.
