Cool birds theres lots out here around the rivers and lakes. out in the oak forest and grasslands you see goldens they are a bit larger. Had a condor  fly over me thought a small plane was landing on me. All raptors are great birds.
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

They are getting common here. Just beautiful to see, but murder on the ducks :-)

Over the course of the year, I average seeing at least an eagle a week.  I've only seen one eagle this week, but last week I saw 4.  Sometimes they are in the tree with me, sometimes quite a ways off.  I saw my first eagle about 55 years ago.  No matter how many I see, it is always a thrill!!!

One of the coolest things I have experienced outdoors was when filming Lettin Loose and having that Golden Eagle finish killing my turkey for me 5 yards away.
I love seeing the big raptors.
They are tough on ducks and geese tho.

I have read that men in the past would hide under a bed of grass jiggling a rabbit until an eagle would land on it. Then grab the legs take some feathers and let it go. Don't know if it's true but I have thought about trying it many times. With leather on of course.
The hunt is the trophy!

When I fish the Hudson river for stripers my wife and I see a lot of them. We have seen as many as 13 different birds at one time. Shawn

They are getting pretty common here along the Susquehanna River in central Pa. Very cool to see, great comeback story.
We are all here because we are not all there.

Back in the late 80's while guiding goose hunters, a bald eagle flew over our spread several times yet he maintained a high elevation.
I glassed him with some average 10 X 50's. One of the clients had a pair of Swarovski 8 X 40's which he offered me to try. Now I could see feather detail. I was successfully introduced to high quality optics.

One area I guided for, held a large tree in the middle of the active part of the refuge. Never hunted there over ten years where eagles failed to frequently use that tree. The are a special creation.

I see eagles a lot here in Wyoming, but nothing like what I saw in Alaska last summer. The Alaskans have more eagles than anyplace else, I'm betting. Here is a pic of one from that summer trip, which I highly recommend to anyone that loves wild places.

Yep, and he could count the eyelashes on each eye from where he was.

It is nice seeing them come back. We have nesting pairs in NJ now also. My son saw one in Whiting NJ over the weekend.
