Oliverstacy strings, tough!!!

3 years on the same string! 1000's of shots, many hunts and random arrow flinging. The only thing that went out was the serving.    

 Josh built me a replacement and it's purty!!

Serving's  not hard to do either if you wanna make strings really last.  I like making my own, I can tailor the string to my bow, like I know exactly how large to make the bottom loop so it doesn't slide too much but isn't super tight when unstrung.  And the length so it gets to my perfect brace height without too much twisting...

I'm all about supporting the sponsors of Tradgang and love to share some good info when I have it.    

 I believe some strings are not as well made as others, but haven't heard anything negative about the sponsors here who do make them.     :cool:

X 2 on Josh's strings.  Extremely well made, always quick to your door, and just an all around great guy to do business with.  I've put his strings on 4 different bows over the course of the last 6 months....always right on the money for length, excellent job on his padded loops and his serving length is a little more generous for those who wear armguards.

Ditto!  My longbows have Josh's strings and I have reasons for that;

1) He is a sponsor here.
2) He is just a great guy to talk to.
3) He is so genuine and really makes an effort to get the string you want to your door as fast as is possible.
4) He is a wealth of information.
5) Very reasonable prices.

Anyway, I enjoy talking to him and will continue to buy strings form him, I think they are awesome.

Yup, another +1 for Josh from me. Every one of my bows wears one of Josh's strings.

I've had strings from a couple of other makers on here & they have not performed as well as Josh's. One wouldn't stop stretching, one was too long, despite me sending measurements & 2 from the same maker broke before they'd got to 20 shots!

Every string I've ever had from Josh has been the perfect length, well served with small loops & smooth tapers. God alone knows how many arrows I've shot from my Cheyenne, but it has to run into the thousands & other than wearing out the serving (which I simply replaced), it's as good as the day I installed it.

I just received two strings from Josh for my Tall Tines recurve.  They were actually built to go with the 62" limbs I have on order with Brian.  The Mountain Berry/Brown D10 strands and the Brown Halo serving will go great with my Brazilian Rosewood riser with Bocote accents and my new set of limbs with Bocote veneers!

No--not at all.  Bundle tension, tapers, back twist, serving, etc. all make a difference.

With the stretching, unless a loop was slipping it was the material.  Some materials, especially dacron, keep on stretching.  Low strand count strings tend to stretch more also.  

The one that was too long...could have been a goof, could have been two different ways of measureing.  I go by AMO (measure under tension), but unless the string is measured under tension it won't be the same.

The two that broke...I hope you contacted the string maker.  Sounds like he/she had a spool of faulty string material.  I've had that happen to me once or twice over the years--no way to tell until the string fails.  It's rare, but it happens.  The only other thing I can think of is a rough spot in the string groove, if they broke in the loop.
