Bees Wax on your string

Do any of you guys use bees wax for your stings? What are the likes and dislikes
Do you put it on the whole sting?

A lot of guys use a mix of bees wax and toilet bowl ring wax. Do a search for string wax recipe and I'll bet you will find some more info on the subject.

I use pure beeswax on all my strings and like the way it works. Big advantage for me is it's easy to get, easy to use, and I can tell I'm at anchor by the pleasant smell. I use it for the whole string but tend to go pretty easy on the serving. After rubbing the cake of wax on the string I use my fingers to rub the string vigorously to melt the wax into the string.
I make a mixture of beeswax, toilet ring wax, and rosin for string building. The toilet wax softens it a little and the rosin makes it sticky. Combined it tends to work a little better for string making.

i use a 50/50 blend of pure bees wax and paraffin candle wax.  it's harder than the typical sticky gooey commercial wax, so it doesn't pick up dirt and crap.  it rubs in easily, burnishes in well with a small fold of paper or leather, and less goes on the string.

i use a double boiler on a hot plate to melt and blend the two waxes - never try to melt wax in a pot directly over a heat source!

I use natural bees wax, and have for 20 years or more. but in real warm weather it gets a bit soft.

Rob, That is a great suggestion mixing candle wax with bees wax.     i gotta give that a try.

I did a search and found nothing

I think I am going to try candle wax, the tolite ring just dont sound right to me, or maybe the thought of putting it up to my face just is an issue.

Pure beeswax for string maint.

50/50 mix of beeswax and toilet ring (unused LOL!) for string building.

not enuf stickiness with only plain paraffin (candle) wax.  it really should be mixed with a more viscous substance, i.e. bees wax, rosin, plumber's wax, etc.

check around with the trad gang gear vendors, at least some have a good bowstring wax blend that uses real bees wax.

instead spending money on a double boiler, half fill a small pot with water, 1/2 to 3/4 fill a glass jar (jelly, mason or whatever) with bees wax and paraffin.  SLOWLY heat the water, which in turn will SLOWLY melt the wax.  the wax will  melt at around 140-150f.  when the wax mixture is fully melted, pour out into a paper cup or small paper muffin cups in a muffin pan.

Pure bees wax. Took the grand kids to the bee farm and they had it there.
