50% Location
20% Skill in execution
30% Luck

Even the best bowhunter in the best location requires luck. There are so many variables in bowhunting, traditional in particular that all need to come together at the same time.

2x on LV2HUNT. Location is the biggie, maybe more than 50%. As an old ducking guide friend of mind used to say: Ya gotta be where the ducks wanna be. But luck is pretty big, too.

This fall I didn't remember that and hunted the right way with the right gear in the wrong place. I committed to hunting the shrub steppe, which is a tough way to bowhunt to begin with and I stuck to it stubbornly. And it hard to be lucky and skillful there.

I shoulda hunting the dark timber where it is easier to be lucky and skillful.
