Bummer!

I know a guy that was sharpening three blade broadheads while watching TV.  Then he got up to get another beer and stepped on two of them that were on the floor beside him (No, it was not me).  Made a real mess of both his foot and the house.

For what is is worth, you did not invent anything new, but I bet it does not happen to you again.

Good luck.

OUCH! I once like afool pulled a broadhead out of a foam target like a field point, with my hand wrapped around the shaft, a 4 blade no less!! 42 stitches to my fingers and palm. Wrecked my daughters B-Day party as well!! Best of luck!! Shawn

I am going to show my ignorance here. What is the proper way to remove a broadhead from a foam target?
 Thanks
Jim

He's talking about his support hand pressed against the target.

Yup, ya should make sure your hand that is holding the target whikle you pull is not wrapped around the arrow shaft and holding the target at the same place or time. Shawn

Been there done that, back in my younger and not so wise days i was removing a broad head from a arrow, and yes i was not using a wrench. Well thats where the not so wise came into play, broad head poped loose burried the blade to the bone in my index finger ouch! Oh and might i add my wife is one great tracker she never lost the blood trail from one end of the house to the other. Becareful!

I was dragging a hog with the help of a guide a few years back and as I was shuffling my feet the right side of my right foot caught an arrow with a broadhead that someone had left in the woods and never recovered. Sliced right through my leather boot and into my foot requiring 5 or 6 stitches.

Felt a little pain, looked down and watched the blood pool out of my boot. I was surprised that it didnt seem to hurt that much until later on when the throbbing kicked in after the stitches. I put a pressure bandage on it and drove myself to the emergency clinic.

I agree now we know what a deer feels.  So if someone says how cruel it is to shoot something with an arrow I can tell first hand how it feels.

I was turning a griz's lips and stuck a freshly sharpened knife through the lip and through my left hand at the base of the thumb.  Thumbs are what make us slightly different from our animal cousins, and I couldn't use mine for the entire day pack pack out of the Nelchina River.  Sooner or later everyone has a close call with a knife or broadhead-some closer than others!  Heal fast and get back to it.
