4-fletch?

Anybody use the 4-fletch with 5 1/2in feathers?

i only use 3 with 5 1/2" feathers. 4 would work but to me is a bit overkill

It would seem to me with that long of a feather and being a 4 fletch, your arrow sure would have some serious drag to it, too much in my opinion!

I use 4 fletch, but use 4" feathers. WOrks great, 5 1/2" would be too much.

I think I remember in the first Masters of the Barebow Roger Rotharr(hope I spelled his name right) uses 4 fletch 5.5 bananna's.I believe he fletches them 60x120.Maybe its overkill but at hunting distances as long as it works for you thats what really matters.I usally use 4-4" but have done 4-5".The 4-5" arrows grouped right with 3-5" at 20 yds on the same spine arrow.

I use four-fletch, 5" shield feathers and have done so for many years.  Maybe it is a little overkill, but I love the way it looks and it works for me.  

Interesting that I've done it so long I no longer look at how I nock my arrows, and lately I've taken an old recurve I bought from a neighbor out for some hunts.  I'm using the 3-fletch microflites that came with it.  And twice I've noticed I nocked the arrow with the cock feather in.  Ha.

I love 4-fletch.  I've only tried 3" and 4" feathers.  I don't think you'll like 5.5".  The difference in drag between the 3" and 4" is noticeable...I would think 5.5" would start reminding you of a flu-flu.

If 4x4" won't steer it...it's time to go home!

Whatever works for you.  I use 5.5 LP Bannana and works great on river cane!  Its not about speed, its about hitting what you're looking at.

Got a beautiful set of Surewoods from Snag that are four fletched and fly super from tree different bows...   make it easy to nock an arrow. Just put it on the string, there is no wrong way

i did some 4-4" this year and like em a lot. i think 4-3" would be better. the 4-4" fly similar to 3 - 5.5" nanners. great hunting set up.

4" 4 fletch yes, I did not like 5 1/2" 4 fletch but called them a flu flu and others knowing more than me disagreed. I'd be open to trying it again, just have not had the chance.

Long and low.........is the way to go. Will be trying some 4 x 5" long, but only 1/2" high. Keeping them narrow( short in height) reduces the flu-flu effect. Have read that they help with a poor release and straighten quicker. Check out how the Mongels and Turks fletched their arrows....long and low.

4" fours @ 90° on carbons, works great. I've tried 3 inchers and they flew fine, but I like the extra margin in the 4 inchers. Never have tried 5s.

I am going to try my first woodies in January, and I'm anxious to see how that changes things.
