Youngsters keeping the tradition alive! PICS
« on: November 28, 2011, 07:23:00 PM »
Last night my buddy and I (23feetupandhappy's bother Thad) headed out to the stand for our last shot at a deer before Iowa Shotgun kicked into gear. I saw a nice buck way off in the distance but Thad had another story to tell. At about 4:30 Thad was drawing back his black widow on a massive doe at 25 yards. We tracked her with minimal blood for about 45 minutes due to the arrow still being inside her. 200 yards later she was all his. His shot was a perfect double lung. This was Thad's third doe of the year with his recurve.

I just wanted to give a congrats not only to my fellow hunting buddy but to all the young traditional hunters out there. With the need for technological toys of todays younger generation, I see many of my friends if not all but two fall into the obsession of needing the latest and greatest gear. In my eyes there is something about walking into the woods with a stick and a string that makes one feel one with nature.

So to all the traditional archers out there, deer or no deer this year. I give you my thanks!    :clapper:

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Nice shot! I'm only 22 but love traditional archery! I have a few buddies that shoot or are getting into traditional archery and they are having a blast. From my experience trad shooters are usually very nice people that don't mind talking or swapping bows for a few shots! Congrats on the doe, good luck with getting your buck!
