I love you Mr. Asbell! LOL
« on: November 30, 2011, 06:41:00 PM »
SO I have been reading Asbell's book (Instinctive Shooting) during my down time at work (diesel mechanic).
Today I got off work early, strung the grizzly, checked brace, and adjusted my nock point. Went to the backyard at put to use what I remember about my "new, Proper" form.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I had changed my form at some point and my shooting has been getting worse and worse and worse!
My accuracy is still off but I'm grouping great again! (I even shot through another cedar shaft).
For those that were in the same position I was (shot great and seems to be getting worse with every shot).....start over. It really does work.
Asbell is an instinctive archery genius!

It is only because of a conversation I had with Mr Asbell maybe 30 years ago that I decided to give instinctive a try.

Oddly when I approached him about the subject his 1st question was "Have you ever played any kind of ball? (ie softball or baseball)

Of course my answer was yes so he then asked if I ever had to throw the ball to the catcher and again my answer was yes. Then he asked if I got the ball close enough that the catcher could actually catch the ball... duh! of course!

He stated, "If you can do that, then you can shoot instinctively.

I rushed home and for weeks I kept telling myself after hitting what I was looking at.. Man! That was a lucky shot.

It finally dawned on me that it was more than luck, it was in fact instinctive shooting.

Thank you Mr Asbell.

God bless,Mudd

LOL...it really isn't hard if you just do it.  The hardest part is not thinking and just doing.

No different than shooting hoops or throwing a baseball.

Big Fred will forgive your "love you" part as long as it's MR Asbell and not MRS!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
